But you get what you pay for.
It's a heavy, solidly built/constructed item. It's the first thing that struck my senses when I unpacked the shelf. If solid, well made products float your boat, the floating of this boat will make you happy. When installed, it looks great.
Typical word to the wise, nothing in the room where you hang this shelf is going be square so it'll help if you have two things on hand. Plenty of time so you won't feel rushed with the installation and have a three foot level on hand to plumb everything with. First things first, I had to square up or plumb the mirror the shelf was going hang beneath as whomever hung the mirror, did so with one side three quarters of an inch too low. After plumbing the mirror, I had to square and "properly space" the wall hangers for the shelf brackets to attach to. I don't care how good you are, if you care and small fractions of an inch cause your eyes to ache and set your muscles to twitching, this type of project is a huge PITA. But when the project in completed, as always, the extra effort is always worth it. Also, making things plumb and square, keeps the other-half happy.
Overall, yes, when compared to other shelving available, I think this shelf is more expensive but once installed, you'll have an additional shelf you'll be both happy and proud of; money well spent.

The stainless steel shelf is awesome, I love it. But, the instructions tell you to use a 1/4" drill bit for non-stud(drywall) mounting. You are to use the provided plastic expansion anchors. Well, the 1/4" drill bit size was, for me anyway, too big. I recommend starting with a 1/8" drill bit and using a slight circumferential rotation(wobble the drill a little) as you drill to enarge the hole slightly, then check the fittment of the plastic anchors. If they slip in effortlessly, they're probably too loose.
